Ty Bellingham

Head Chef, Betel Leaf @ Bathers With more than 20 years experience globally, Ty Bellingham, is a world authority on Thai cuisine.

As the long-standing Executive Chef of the iconic Sailors Thai restaurant in Sydney, Ty was awarded a SMH Good Food Guide Chef’s Hat, three years running.
Fulfilling an ambition to promote Thai food in the US, Ty spent a number of years in New York at the helm of Kittichai, at 60 Thompson Hotel Soho, as executive chef, overseeing the restaurant & events.
He has travelled extensively through Thailand, and has developed a detailed understanding and love of the food with its rich and complex history and the people.

In recent years Ty has been consulting to a number of restaurants and giving back to those less fortunate including the Wesley Mission. He has spent time training refugees and asylum seekers to get the qualifications and experience needed to enter a fulfilling career in hospitality. Ty lives on the Northern Beaches, is married and has three children.
